The Ruins of Thogirn
The great Dwarven city of Thogirn was once the main supplier of Mithral to the kingdoms of the land. Carved out of the hard stone of Doomgaze Mountain, it sits on the largest deposit of Mithral in all of Corwynn. The abundance of this metal created a thriving economy in the area and spawned the cities of Rockdale, Whurgen’s Run and Halenshire. Part of the city guards the Doomgaze Pass.
The city fell during the rule of the dwarven king Whurgen Balderk. A great white dragon and her young devastated the city, attacking with a large army of Kobolds. The dwarves were slaughtered and the survivors forced south to Whurgen’s Run (then known as Delonshire). The dragon and her army terrorized the region until Whurgen and his army, bolstered by reinforcements from the dwarven cities of Battledeep and Gurn’s Hall to the east, marched upon the stronghold. The army was never seen again, including King Whurgen but it is believed he vanquished the dragon as his dying act.
In recent years, kobolds have returned through the unprotected pass and have again begun raiding merchant caravans passing along the east-west trade route.
